ABOUT SPORCK TILEART
Sporck Tileart was created in 2001 by Leif Sporck. Sporck Tileart makes one-of-a-kind ceramic tile art using century old techniques and modern, state-of-the-art equipment. This business has very few limits, with a collection of over 900 originally conceived designs, and with the ability to press hundreds of field tiles, the skies are the limit! Sporck Tileart Tiles can be found in homes all over Michigan, The United States, and the World. If you desire original art, affordable art, versatile art, and art that only an artist in Michigan's Leelanau County could make, then you have found the diamond-in-the-rough you have been searching for.
Fish, Outdoor sports, Wildflowers, The Leelanau Peninsula, Michigan, Vikings and The Great Lakes, are a small list of the categories that make the Sporck Tileart Collection. Start your collection today, for a friend, a family member, or yourself. An art tile is a special gift that is attractive to many types of people. They can be hung on a nail, placed in a stand, left out in a garden for all the seasons, used as a hot plate/spoon rests, or installed in a tile backsplash. Sporck Tileart glazes do not fade and thick Sporck Tiles are not delicate.
2010 marked a huge step for Spørck Tileart when we acquired our gallery in Fishtown, Leland, Michigan. Fishtown is a Registered Michigan Historic Site and most importantly, it is one of the last working commercial fishing operations on the Great Lakes. In 2007 it officially became a preservation.
In the Spring of 2020 we closed our Fishtown store in Leland after ten years in that location, and on July 4th of 2020 we opened a new gallery in the Mercato in the Village at Grand Traverse Commons. We miss out Fishtown location, but will still be making all the tiles related to that destination.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Leif is the son of a potter and Northwestern Michigan College ceramics instructor. Leif's mother also worked in pottery, printmaking, and painting and had degrees in Fine Art From MSU. When he and his sister were young they spent many ours with creative endeavors.
When you spend your entire life with a pottery and ceramic gallery in your backyard some skills come naturally, as Leif discovered in 2001 when he carved his first tile. Much of Leif's time is now spent painting new tiles, carving new designs, traveling to Michigan Art Fairs and managing galleries in Leland's Fishtown and on M-204 near Suttons Bay.
